We don't collect anything.

Effective May 3, 2026 · Last updated May 3, 2026

The short version: iontuner doesn't collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. Audio from your microphone is processed in real time on your device and immediately discarded. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising trackers, no third-party SDKs. The longer version of this policy just spells out exactly what that means.

What information we collect

None. iontuner does not collect any personally identifiable information from you. We do not require an account, we do not ask for your email, and we do not transmit any data to our servers — because we do not operate any servers that receive your data.

How the microphone is used

iontuner needs microphone access to function. When you grant permission, the app captures audio from the microphone in short buffers (about 46 milliseconds each), analyzes the buffer using a pitch detection algorithm to determine the musical note being played, and immediately discards the audio data.

At no point is audio recorded, saved to disk, transmitted over the network, or sent to any third party. The audio never leaves your device. You can verify this by enabling Airplane Mode and using the app — it will work normally.

What is stored on your device

iontuner uses Apple's standard UserDefaults system to remember your preferences between sessions:

These preferences are stored only on your device and are removed when you uninstall the app. They are not synchronized to the cloud, not transmitted anywhere, and not accessible to anyone else.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

iontuner contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising networks, no tracking pixels, and no third-party SDKs of any kind. We do not know how often you open the app, what features you use, or anything else about your usage. This is intentional.

Third-party services

iontuner uses the open-source aubio library for pitch detection. aubio runs entirely on your device and does not communicate with any external service. No other third-party services are used.

Children's privacy

iontuner is suitable for users of all ages. Because we do not collect any personal information from any user, we do not collect personal information from children. The app does not contain any communication features, social features, or external links presented to users.

Changes to this policy

If iontuner ever begins collecting any data — for example, if a future version offered an optional cloud sync feature for tunings — we would update this policy and prompt you to review the changes within the app before any data is collected. The app's core tuning functionality will always remain offline and private.
